Located on KU’s West Campus in Lawrence, KS, the Bioscience & Technology Business Center (BTBC) stands as a remarkable 66,000 square foot, 3-story facility encompassing laboratory, office, and collaborative spaces. Notably, this project marks our inaugural endeavor in Bio-Safety Level 3 (BSL 3) installations, necessitating meticulous attention to detail due to the biohazardous nature of the laboratory’s intended research. Despite encountering unique challenges, including frequent ductwork redesigns and schedule delays, our team demonstrated unwavering commitment and expertise in navigating the complexities of the project. With an emphasis on safety and precision, we executed extensive BIM coordination for the installation of welded stainless-steel duct, totaling 10,000 linear feet and involving 25,000 lbs of metal. The comprehensive installation comprised a diverse array of equipment, including 3 RTUs, 8 split systems, 3 boilers, 6 supply fans, 35 Fan Powered Boxes, 21 Phoenix valves, and 4 strobic lab exhaust fans. Through swift and diligent efforts, we ensured the installation’s safety and longevity, affirming our dedication to delivering secure and reliable solutions for BTBC’s pioneering research endeavors.
