The Overland Park Arboretum Visitors Center project was a notable undertaking involving the construction of a unique 20,000-square-foot facility distinguished by its rounded walls, which presented distinctive challenges. Under the leadership of Foreman Cory Dupignac, this extensive Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) project incorporated pre-fabrication techniques to enhance construction efficiency. However, the project encountered an unexpected two-year delay due to the unforeseen impact of the Covid pandemic. Despite this setback, a skilled workforce of 6 to 8 individuals diligently carried out the intricate task of mitering ductwork to match the oval to round walls’ circumference. This process involved the adept manipulation of flat registers to conform to the curved surfaces, ensuring precise installation. All equipment utilized in the project was sourced from Trane, and meticulous preparation included procuring and storing rolls of metal on-site to guarantee a continuous supply for ductwork fabrication. The General Contractor, McCown, played a crucial role in facilitating the project’s success, underscoring collaborative efforts in overcoming challenges and delivering exceptional results.
